Henco lays 2,000 roof solar panels

In May, Henco installed 2,000 solar panels on the roof of its Toekomstlaan distribution building in Herentals. The panels handle 7% of Henco’s total energy requirements. In fact, the production of components for the plumbing and heating industry is quite energy-intensive.

More and more large industrial companies are recognising the importance of a clear sustainability strategy. As Henco, we want to stay ahead of the curve.

“At Henco and our parent holding company Aalberts, transitioning our products and processes so these are more sustainable started some years ago,” said Geert Jacobs, Manufacturing Director.

“Our high-quality products for water distribution and energy-efficient heating are already contributing to global sustainable development goals. And we constantly reevaluate our processes for improvements. For instance, we installed a lot of charge points for the electrification of our vehicle fleet, we are reducing our use of packaging materials and waste to an absolute minimum, and we are committed to energy reduction through detailed energy monitoring.”

“We’re also very happy now that our first solar panel project together with Earth can start at our newest site in Herentals. This means we can produce our first green power by the summer.”

Luc Demeyere is CEO of Earth. “Company roofs have huge potential for helping achieve the energy transition. This is why companies like Henco also come to Earth. Our experience allows us to respond quickly and efficiently to accelerate those sustainable ambitions. We’re delighted that Henco chose Earth. As a company, you can reap a lot of benefits when you handle energy intelligently and efficiently.”

Today, more than 300 Henco employees take care of the annual production and sales of more than 130 million metres of pipe and more than 11 million highest-quality fittings. Henco has clearly stated its green ambition to be carbon neutral by 2050.

To reach those green targets, Henco has outlined a comprehensive roadmap. More efficient energy consumption and the reduction of CO2 emissions, and energy and CO2 intensity are just a few key points.
